FSU cornerback Ja'Bril Rawls joins list of players entering transfer portal
Florida State starting cornerback Ja’Bril Rawls, one of the most promising homegrown players on the roster, announced Tuesday morning he intends to enter the transfer portal.
Despite battling injuries at times, Rawls is coming off of a breakout season for the Seminoles. He missed the last two games due to injury and missed two others with other ailments.
In seven games for Florida State in 2025, he recorded 40 tackles, two for loss, a fumble recovery, an interception and two pass breakups.
Rawls was at Florida State for three seasons, coming to Tallahassee from Pensacola as a three-star recruit. He was the 740th-ranked player in the country, according to Rivals at the time. He now is arguably the biggest loss to the portal this offseason, of the 13 Seminoles who have stated their intentions.

Rawls’ departure comes just two weeks after Florida State dismissed secondary coach Patrick Surtain Sr. On Monday night, Rawls announced he had signed with a new agency, Athletes First, which is the same firm that represents NFL star Patrick Surtain Jr.
The NCAA transfer portal officially opens on Jan. 2 this cycle, and it will remain open for 15 days.
