FSU Defensive Back Omarion Cooper Enters Transfer Portal

A career that started out with such promise at Florida State looks like it will now end somewhere else.
Omarion Cooper, who starred late in 2021 as a true freshman cornerback with the Seminoles, has put his name in the transfer portal.
The Lehigh Acres product was slowed by an injury in 2022 and struggled to come anywhere close to his form from the previous season. He went from a starter against LSU to a backup who saw few reps in the latter stages of the season.

In fact, his future at cornerback at Florida State was so in flux that defensive coordinator Adam Fuller asked him to move to safety before spring practice, and that’s where Cooper got the vast majority of his reps during those six weeks.,
He was slated to be a backup to projected starters Shyheim Brown and Akeem Dent in 2023, but his versatility gave him a chance to see the field in some capacity. Instead, his days in garnet and gold now appear to be over.
Cooper’s departure gives FSU four scholarship safeties currently on campus: Brown, Dent, Travis Jay and true freshman K.J. Kirkland. Both Jay and Kirkland missed the Garnet & Gold Showcase earlier this month with injuries.
