FSU Football signs Rutgers OL transfer Ja'Elyne Matthews
The FSU football team has added to its offensive line depth by signing freshman offensive tackle Ja’Elyne Matthews, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Out of high school, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, Matthews was the 37th-ranked offensive tackle and 16th-ranked player in New Jersey.
Matthews signed with the Seminoles while on his official visit. The 6-foot-6, 340-pound prospect arrived at FSU on Tuesday afternoon and is expected to wrap up his official visit later Wednesday.
“I’m excited to have Ja’Elyne join our Nole Family,” FSU coach Mike Norvell said in a statement. “He has all of his collegiate eligibility remaining and is coming here to compete. He has great size and athletic ability, and his upside and potential are through the roof. Ja’Elyne comes from a championship program in high school and is highly regarded throughout the country. I’m looking forward to seeing him reach his full potential here at Florida State.”

Though he comes through the transfer portal, the New Jersey product should be looked at as an extension of FSU’s 2025 recruiting class. Matthews only spent one semester at Rutgers, having signed with the Scarlet Knights during the early signing period in December.
With the FSU offensive line experiencing a few injuries this spring, as well as losing two players to the portal, offensive tackle has become a priority for the Seminoles in the spring transfer cycle.
