FSU freshman defensive end plans to enter transfer portal
One of the highest-rated recruits in Florida State’s 2025 recruiting class, defensive end L A Jessie Harrold, is planning to enter the transfer portal.
Harrold confirmed his decision Friday evening to On3/Rivals reporter Hayes Fawcett.
The Tampa product, who was a four-star prospect and considered one of the top 200 recruits in the country, appeared in one game this season. He saw three snaps in the Seminoles’ blowout win against Wake Forest.
Coming out of high school, Harrold was considered the No. 21 defensive end in the country and the No. 26 prospect in the state of Florida. He was committed to LSU for months before backing out of that pledge late in the recruiting process and signing with the Seminoles.
The 6-foot-5, 253-pounder posted 11 sacks and 16 tackles for loss as a senior at Tampa Gaither. He chose FSU over LSU, Texas A&M and others.

Harrold is the second Florida State player to announce plans to enter the transfer portal in January, joining redshirt freshman linebacker Jayden Parrish.
These decisions come at a time when FSU head coach Mike Norvell is conducting exit interviews with every player on the Seminoles’ roster, as he does after each season.
The NCAA transfer portal officially opens on Jan. 2 this cycle, and it will remain open for 15 days.
