FSU legacy DE Aaron Hester leaving program, entering transfer portal

As players on college football programs around the country contemplate their futures during this spring transfer portal window, the Florida State Seminoles learned Monday they are losing one with a name that is familiar to many longtime FSU fans.
Defensive end Aaron Hester, who is the son of former Seminole linebacker Ron Hester, announced he is entering the transfer portal.
The younger Hester came to FSU as part of the 2022 recruiting class and has appeared in 12 games over the past three years. He has 12 career tackles and will have two years of eligibility at his next school.
Hester, who was listed at 6-foot-2 and 241 pounds, worked his way into the Florida State rotation as a situational pass-rusher this past season.

During the spring, he found himself trying to create a role for himself in new coordinator Tony White’s 3-3-5 defensive scheme. But that might have been difficult without prototypical size for the defensive line and perhaps not enough quickness to play linebacker.
His best game as a Seminole came this past season, when he recorded four tackles against SMU.
Hester is the sixth FSU player to enter the portal so far in this window. He joins wide receivers Hykeem Williams, Jalen Brown and Jordan Scott, quarterback Trever Jackson and offensive lineman Jaylen Early.
