Staying Hot! FSU wins battle with Miami to land 4-star WR Jasen Lopez
The pursuit of four-star wide receiver Jasen Lopez was one of the first 2026 recruiting battles in which FSU was strictly going head-to-head with Miami.
Though the Hurricanes got the last visit, FSU was the one that won out in the end for the two-sport prospect; Lopez also plays basketball.
“Let’s do it ‘Nole Nation,” Lopez wrote on his Instagram account.
Some will consider this an upset for Florida State, as the ‘Noles rallied after what was a very strong official visit a couple of weeks ago.
Since the spring, the Seminoles and ‘Canes have been slugging this one out. But once again, FSU wide receivers coach Tim Harris Jr. made an impact.
FSU football head coach Mike Norvell and men’s basketball head coach Luke Loucks also were very instrumental in this recruitment.

Lopez joins four-star wideouts Brandon Bennett and Devin Carter in the 2026 class, as FSU has made a massive move at a position in which it has recently struggled to land to pass-catchers.
Lopez took an official visit to FSU on the weekend of June 13, and the intel and vibes coming out of that visit suggested Florida State created some real momentum with Lopez in both hoops and football. But most also felt that, with Miami having the final visit, it would be a tough commitment to pull off.
Lopez is now the 20th commitment in the Seminoles’ 2026 class, which stood at 11th nationally in the On3 Industry Rankings at the time of his announcement.
