Highly rated JUCO DE Jalen Anderson commits to Seminoles ... 'You can't beat FSU'

Four-star junior college defensive end Jalen Anderson has committed to Florida State after a weekend official visit to Tallahassee.

Anderson, who stars at Pearl River (Miss.) Community College, chose the Seminoles over Illinois and Nebraska. He committed to FSU’s coaches on his official visit on Sunday before announcing his decision on Monday.

“You can’t beat FSU,” Anderson said. “Even though, I mean, there was a slump last year, picking it up right now this year, Florida State is always going to be Florida State I chose Coach [Mike] Norvell and everything he’s got going. I trust the coaches to develop me, all the tradition and legacy here, and everybody that’s come before me.

“It’s almost like passing the torch … with [Osceola and] Renegade, like he’s passing the spear to me. So it’s everything I could want in a school for real.”

Anderson, who originally hails from Louisiana, is one of the highest-rated JUCO players in the country. According to the Rivals Industry Ranking, he is the sixth-best player at the junior college level, second-best edge rusher and third third-best prospect in Mississippi.

He will likely play the “Jack” position for Florida State, and he describes himself as a versatile player who can also drop into pass coverage when needed.

As a sophomore, Anderson recorded 50 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks with three forced fumbles.

As for his eligibility, the 6-foot-3, 235-pound pass-rusher has three years to play two.
