X's and O's with Dominic Robinson: Carson Beck and the Miami pass offense

It’s only fitting that, after he broke down the FSU defense, Dominic Robinson looks at the Miami Hurricanes offense. It is rivalry week after all.

The Hurricanes will look to run the ball behind a strong offensive line Saturday night on Bobby Bowden Field (7:30 p.m. ET, ABC). But in order to keep the Seminoles’ defense from cheating against that run, Carson Beck and the Miami pass offense will need to do its part.

From what he’s seen on film, Robinson believes Beck is formidable quarterback. But there are limitations.

“Kind of a polarizing guy, I think a lot of people feel like he’s pretty special, when I watch the film I don’t necessarily see that,” Robinson said. “I think he’s a good player, I think he’s got a good arm. Obviously he’s got good size. He’s adequate athletically. But certainly, I don’t see him as a special player. I don’t see him as generational or anything that we haven’t seen. And more importantly to us, I don’t see him as unbeatable this Saturday.”

Robinson takes a look at Miami pass concepts, the good from Beck (brainpower, poise) and some weaknesses. To watch the video, click play above.
