Myles Bailey blasts 2 HRs in 14-7 win over Duke; FSU advances to ACC semifinals
FSU ace Jamie Arnold was not his usual dominant self for a second consecutive start, but this time it didn’t matter.
Thanks to an offensive eruption led by freshman first baseman Myles Bailey, who blasted two home runs, the Seminoles rolled to a 14-7 win over Duke on Friday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament. FSU next will face the winner of tonight’s other quarterfinal game between No. 3 seed North Carolina and No. 14 seed Boston College.
On a day when every FSU batter recorded at least one hit — and six had at least two — Bailey was the most productive of all. He went 4-for-5 with the two homers and 4 RBIs, and one of the homers measured in at 468 feet and had an exit velocity of 117 mph.
Designated hitter Brody DeLamielleure added to the hit parade by going 3-for-5 with 3 runs scored and 1 RBI, and four other Seminoles chipped in two hits apiece.
FSU scored 12 of its 14 runs in the first four innings, and that was more than enough cushion for Arnold. The junior left-hander was credited with giving up seven hits and five earned runs in five innings, but he got some bad luck when two runs scored on a pop fly that outfielder Max Williams lost in the sun.

In his last start, an 8-3 loss to UNC, Arnold gave up four earned runs on five hits in five innings. But while that result was still very much in doubt when he left the game, this one was over fairly early.
FSU also got two hits apiece from Gage Harrelson (2-for-4, 2 RBIs), Alex Lodise (2-for-6, 2 runs, 2 RBIs), Max Williams (2-for-4, 1 RBI) and Drew Faurot (2-for-5, 1 RBI).
The Seminoles’ semifinal game on Saturday is scheduled for 5 p.m. on the ACC Network.
