Sophomore first baseman Myles Bailey went 3-for-3 and blasted a towering two-run home run to help power the Florida State baseball team to a 10-4 exhibition win over visiting UAB on Saturday at Dick Howser Stadium.

Bailey, who will be the Seminoles’ top returning hitter in 2026, was the star of FSU’s first fall exhibition at home. The Seminoles opened their fall exhibition schedule last weekend against Mississippi State in Pensacola, and they will wrap things up with a Garnet and Gold All-Star Game on Friday, Oct. 31, at 6:30 p.m.

While Bailey swung the biggest bat, the Seminoles displayed a balanced offensive attack, with seven different players recording at least one hit.

USC transfer Brayden Dowd went 2-for-4 with 1 run scored and 2 RBIs; Davidson transfer Eli Putnam went 2-for-4 with 1 RBI; catcher Hunter Carns went 2-for-2 with 1 run scored; and Florida State got one hit apiece from right fielder Brody DeLamielleure, left fielder Noah Sheffield and second baseman Jace Estes.

Sheffield’s one hit was a two-run double that broke open a tie game and gave the Seminoles a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the sixth. Florida State then tacked on additional runs on a sacrifice fly from Cal Fisher and RBI singles from Estes and Dowd.

Dowd hit the ball hard all day; one of his two outs was a blast that was caught on the warning track in straight-away center field.

Florida State used six pitchers in the seven-inning exhibition, with only junior John Abraham going more than one inning. Abraham picked up the victory after striking out three and walking one in two hitless, scoreless innings.

FAU transfer Trey Beard allowed one hit but no runs in his inning; Mississippi State transfer Cade O’Leary allowed two hits but no runs in his frame; and freshman Manny Lantigua retired the side in order in the seventh.

The only Florida State pitchers who suffered damage were USC transfer Brody Purcell and redshirt sophomore Payton Manca. Purcell allowed two runs on three walks and one hit in 2/3 of an inning, while Manca gave up two runs on three hits in 1 1/3.
