Seminoles blister nets in Loucks' debut, cruise to 108-76 win

The Luke Loucks era of FSU men’s basketball is off and running … and shooting … and running some more.

Following through on Loucks’ promise to bring an up-tempo, wide-open offensive style to the program, the Seminoles opened the 2025-26 season Tuesday night with a 108-76 rout of visiting Alcorn State.

The 108 points eclipsed FSU’s season high of 100 points last season against West Florida.

Florida State scored 58 in the first half alone on Tuesday, and five players finished in double-figures scoring. The Seminoles were led by senior forward Chauncey Wiggins, who scored 22 points on 7-of-14 shooting. Wiggins hit 3 of 8 shots from 3-point range and 5 of 5 from the free-throw line.

Loucks has said he wants the Seminoles to take at least 33 shots from 3-point range, and they finished with 30 on Tuesday. They hit 13 of those 30 shots from long range for 43.3 percent.

Along with Wiggins, Florida State also got big nights offensively from senior guard Robert McCray (12 points, 17 assists), senior guard Lajae Jones (18 points), freshman guard Cam Miles (10 points) and senior forward Alex Steen (12 points).

The Seminoles also got nine points apiece from Kobe Magee and Martin Somerville.

McCray’s 17 assists are a new Florida State single-game record.

Florida State returns to action Friday against visiting Alabama State.
