Florida State head coach Mike Norvell meets with media following first day of preseason

Wednesday marked the first of 20 preseason practices for Florida State as they ready for a crucial sixth season under Mike Norvell and a looming opener vs. SEC power Alabama.

Norvell summed up the day saying, “good to see the guys out there and competing…I thought there some good plays made (even for a first day)”

Asked which summer newcomers stood out the first two names were veteran transfers. “It was fun watching Jerry (Jeremiah Wilson),” said Norvell. “You feel his energy, his bounce. He had a nice breakup today.”

Norvell also offered up an assessment on an offensive newcomer. “Seeing Gavin (Sawchuk) being out there, seemed comfortable with the things we asked him,” said Norvell.

Florida State returns to practice on Thursday afternoon as they continue their non-padded acclimation period.
