FSU (3-4, 0-4) saw its losing streak extend to four games in agonizing fashion after falling 20-13 vs. Stanford (2-5, 1-3) in Palo Alto, Calif. in a game that ended at 2:17 a.m. eastern time.
Afterwards, FSU head coach Mike Norvell lamented the miscues that put the ‘Noles in a early hole that lasted all night.
“Coming off some disappointing results here, we needed to play with tremendous energy — critically, discipline,” said Norvell. “We didn’t do that. We had 13 penalties on the night.”
FSU has a bye next week and will next face Wake Forest in Tallahassee on Nov. 1

Saturday’s loss to Stanford marked the 9th consecutive ACC loss for Florida State.
FSU knocked off 6th ranked Alabama 31-17 in week one and will not play another non-conference game until its regular season finale at Gainesville vs. the Florida Gators.
FSU will be idle in week nine and continue its ACC slate on Saturday, Nov. 1 in Doak Campbell Stadium against Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons (4-2, 1-2) are coming off a 39-14 win at Oregon State and were on a bye in week eight.
The Seminoles lead the all-time series 31-9-1 including the last meeting between the two foes in which FSU prevailed 41-16 in Winston-Salem.
