No. 8 FSU (3-1, 0-1) dropped its ACC opener on Friday night at Scott Stadium 46-38 in double overtime vs. the Virginia Cavaliers (4-1, 1-0).
Afterwards, FSU head coach Mike Norvell expressed disappointment with the outcome but not the effort. “They made one more play than what we did,” said Norvell. “And there were multiple opportunities throughout that contest.”

Florida State will face its first rival of the 2025 season in their upcoming game vs. the Miami Hurricanes (4-0, 0-0).
FSU knocked off 14th ranked Alabama 31-17 in week one and will not play another non-conference game until its regular season finale at Gainesville vs. the Florida Gators
FSU will continue its ACC slate on Saturday, October 4th in Tallahassee against the Miami Hurricanes.
The teams have split their last 10 meetings. Miami has not won in Doak Campbell Stadium since 2019.
The Hurricanes had a bye in week five and come into the contest 4-0 including wins over Notre Dame and Florida.
