Leonard Floyd’s Super Bowl win cemented his legacy as a Dodge County hero.

He was already a legend in Eastman, Ga., where he went to high school, and Chauncey, Ga., where he grew up.

Now, Floyd will be a permanent fixture in county lore.

The City of Eastman Council, in conjunction with the Dodge County Board of Commissioners, will proclaim February 22nd, 2022 ‘Leonard Floyd Day.’

“We are all proud of the accomplishments Mr. Floyd has achieved,” County Manager Conner Bearden told DawgsHQ.

Leonard Floyd’s Super Bowl stats: 5 total tackles, 1 sack

Floyd starred as one of the best pass rushers on one of the NFL’s best defenses.

Leonard Floyd’s Super Bowl performance included one of the Rams’ ‘Big Game’ record seven sacks. Los Angeles finished top-three in the league with 50 sacks this season, and Floyd had 9.5 of them.

He clearly earned his keep after signing a four-year, $64 million deal with the Rams this offseason. Similar to fellow Georgia Bulldog Matthew Stafford, a change of scenery paid off for Floyd.

The Bears drafted Floyd ninth overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. Chicago released him before he signed with the Rams in April of 2020.

Less than two years later, he became a vital part of the defense that forced Cincinnati into its worst protection of Joe Burrow this season.

The Georgia boy will come home to a well-deserved celebration

Floyd was a lanky, dynamic athlete coming out of Dodge County high school. A year at Hargrave Military Academy prepared him to star at Georgia, where he finished with 182 total tackles, 17 sacks and five forced fumbles in three seasons.

Floyd is scheduled to visit Dodge County high school on February 22nd, where Dodge County and the City of Eastman will present their joint proclamations of ‘Leonard Floyd Day’ to him in a ceremony.

Hopefully, he’ll bring his championship title belt with him.
