Brock Bowers and Amarius Mims are the first two Georgia players to be selected in the 2024 NFL Draft, marking the ninth and tenth first round picks of the last three years for the Bulldogs. In the Kirby Smart era, that number is 17 with a total number of draft picks for him coming in at 57 – and growing as things continue Friday and Saturday. All that is great and part of the overall reaction to the pair of UGA players that heard their name called Thursday night. DawgsHQ compiled some of the best from social media and shares it with you…

Brock Bowers – Las Vegas Raiders (No. 13)

Georgia tight ends coach Todd Hartley was in person with Bowers as he held a draft party in California. Both Hartley and Bowers’ head coach of the last three years shared a special message on social media.

In going to the Raiders, Bowers will have an opportunity to reunite with a teammate of his from his first year on campus: running back Zamir White. Christopher Smith is also in Las Vegas. White was one of a few Raiders that shared their excitement to welcome Bowers aboard.

White wasn’t the only running back with thoughts on Bowers’ selection to Sin City. NFL Network analyst Maurice Jones Drew got a chance to coach Bowers at one point. His story makes it safe to say the rookie won’t be fazed by being the new guy on the block.

Amarius Mims – Cincinnati Bengals (No. 18)

Headed to Cincinnati, Mims becomes a big part of a Bengals offense headlined by Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase, Tee Higgins (for the time being) and other elite weapons. Keeping the quarterback on his feet is paramount, and it’s something Mims said has been on his mind since he saw the Heisman Trophy winner help LSU to a National Championship in 2019.

Here’s what offensive line coach Stacy Searels and head coach Kirby Smart had to say about the Mims selection to Cincinnati…

Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud was part of a draft broadcast on Thursday night, sharing some interesting stories in the process. For Mims, who made his first career start against Stroud’s Ohio State Buckeyes in the College Football Playoff semifinals, Stroud said he once tried to get Mims to join him in Columbus. It’s easy to see that a player like Mims is highly desired by star quarterbacks for protection.

The NFL Draft continues Friday night with the second and third rounds where more Georgia players are expected to be selected. Coverage begins at 7:00 p.m. ET on ABC, ESPN and NFL Network.
