Indiana football has gone back into the transfer portal to add depth out wide with the addition of California transfer wide receiver Jonathan Brady, who announced his commitment to the Hoosiers late on Saturday night.

The announcement comes after Brady visited Indiana earlier in the week. The Hoosiers beat out the likes of Tennessee and Miami (FL) for Brady’s services.

Brady, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound wide receiver is rated as a three-star transfer and the No. 105 ranked wideout in the transfer portal, according to On3.

Last year, in his lone season at Cal, Brady racked up 36 receptions for 386 yards and three touchdowns. Each of those figures ranked top four on the Golden Bears during the 2024 season. Brady also added five carries for 28 yards a season ago.

Brady began his collegiate career at New Mexico State. As a freshman in 2022, the Las Vegas product caught 23 passes for 310 yards and three receiving touchdowns.

He followed that up by reeling in 39 passes for 621 yards and four touchdowns as a sophomore. Brady carried the ball nine times and rushed for 35 yards and a score during the 2023 campaign as well.

During his time at New Mexico State, Brady also spent some time on special teams — handling duties on both kick and punt returns.

Throughout the course of his collegiate career, Brady has appeared in 41 games. Over three seasons of college football, he’s totaled 98 receptions for 1,317 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns.

Brady has garnered 149 targets throughout his three-year college career. On those targets, he’s tallied just three drops throughout his career — including none a season ago at Cal.

Brady was a teammate of Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza during the 2024 season at Cal. The two will hope to rekindle their chemistry from a year ago in Bloomington ahead of the 2025 season.

Following Michigan transfer Tyler Morris’ injury early into spring practice, head coach Curt Cignetti noted the Hoosiers were thin at receiver — specifically in the slot. While Brady played a lot out wide a year ago at Cal, his addition will help Indiana fill the vacancy left by Morris in the slot.

The 22nd scholarship addition for the Hoosiers via the portal, Brady has one year of eligibility remaining.
