Timeline 'up in the air' for two Indiana players dealing with injuries ahead of foreign trip to Puerto Rico

As Indiana basketball quickly approaches its foreign trip to Puerto Rico, it could be without two members of its roster due to injuries.
Both guard Jason Drake and wing Nick Dorn were sidelined during Wednesday’s practice and are dealing with undisclosed injuries. But, both could sideline them for the upcoming preseason trip.
“The timeline on both of them is a little up in the air, I guess,” Indiana head coach Darian DeVries said on Wednesday. “We’ll see where it leads but we’re hopeful that both will be back in a relatively good timeline. But I don’t anticipate with Nick (Dorn) especially — it’ll be something more in the fall. We’ll see how it shakes out in the fall.”
Dorn arrives at Indiana after a standout sophomore year at Elon. He averaged 15.2 points per game while shooting 35.1 percent on 3.0 made 3s a game. He scored 20+ points six times and made at least two 3s in 21 of 25 games he appeared in last season.
Drake averaged 11.1 points, 3.1 assists and shot 39.6 percent from three for Drexel last season. He had previous stops at Cleveland State and Butler Community College as well.

Indiana is still awaiting the arrival of its two international signings Aleksa Ristic and Andrej Acimovic. Their status for Puerto Rico is also unclear.
“They’re going to be tired when they get here,” DeVries said with a smile. “We should have for sure one of them maybe in the next day or two, that’s our hope, and then we’ll get him acclimated as quickly as possible. If that means he gets the opportunity to play in Puerto Rico, great, if it doesn’t — but the last thing we want to do is put him in a position where he’s just not ready.”
Indiana’s trip to Puerto Rico begins with its first game on August 6 against the Puerto Rican All-Star team. Then it’ll be back-to-back games against Mega Superbet, a professional club based out of Serbia on August 9 and 11.
“It’s been awesome timing for us because you get 10 practices over the course of the summer so we’ve spread those out,” DeVries said of the upcoming international trip. “For the timing of us to have it this first summer, it’s been a tremendous benefit for us and then the three games in Puerto Rico, you don’t treat them like a regular season game but it’s the opportunity to get out and play and get a feel for how guys will react to guys not in the same jerseys we’ve been going against.”
