Ethan Harris has committed to Iowa

Ben McCollum and his staff have been working hard to land their first verbal commitment from the Class of 2026.

On Saturday they received the good news that four star forward Ethan Harris has given his verbal pledge to the Hawkeyes. The 6-foot-8 and 200 pound prospect from Camas, WA selected Iowa over offers from Gonzaga, Washington, Boise State, Virginia Tech, Oregon State, and Colorado State.

Harris visited Iowa in late July. He also took official visits to Boise State and Gonzaga.

According to Rivals.com, Harris is a consensus four star prospect and the 96th overall best player in the Class of 2026. He is ranked specifically by Rivals.com as the 65th best player in this class and the 11th best power forward.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR IOWA?

One thing that Ben McCollum is looking to do is find players in the 6-foot-9 to 6-foot-5 range who can play a variety of different positions on the floor. With Iowa adding Trey Thompson as a reclassification prospect to the Class of 2025, Iowa now has a pair of very versatile forwards who could play between the three and the four with length and range.

The best guess is that Iowa will now be done with their recruitment efforts for the forward position for the time being. That can always change in this era of college sports, but they will feel comfortable moving forward into next season.

The Hawkeyes will now turn their attention to the guard court in the Class of 2026. Four star guard Joseph Hartman is on campus this weekend. He has visited Dayton and Butler and will also be seeing Minnesota and Michigan in the coming weeks before making a decision.

Iowa will also be hosting guard Quentin Coleman out of St. Louis later this month. Coleman is a talented guard who had a very strong end of the summer performance at Nike’s Peach Jam. That raised is stock to a four star player. He has visited Wake Forest and Texas Tech this fall.
