Kansas State adds Juco safety Dante Thomas

Kansas State has struck for the third time today in the class of 2024. Southwest Mississippi Community College safety Dante “Strap” Thomas has committed to K-State.

The junior college safeties announcement comes on the heels of an official visit to Kansas State. He visited over the weekend in what was a busy weekend for the Wildcats. K-State has already landed three commitments from the weekends visitors in fellow safety Jordan Riley and defensive end Travis Bates.

Thomas also had offers from Coastal Carolina, UAB and New Mexico before electing to commit to Kansas State. The Louisiana native started his collegiate career at Northwestern State. While at Northwestern State, he medically redshirted in the 2021 season. In three games for the Demons, Thomas record seven tackles and an interception.

In his second season at Northwestern State, Thomas played in 12 games for the Demons. He recorded one interception and added 13 tackles. PFF favored his redshirt freshman season at Northwestern State in terms of tackling. Giving the new Kansas State commit a 77.6 grade, while he registered a 62.8 grade overall.

This season at Southwest Mississippi Community College Thomas recorded 43 tackles. He also added in a fumble recovery and four pass breakups.

Overall, Thomas is commitment No. 15 for the 2024 class and second junior college add joining defensive lineman Malcolm Alcorn-Crowder. He is the third safety in the class joining Riley and high school safety Callen Barta.

Thomas is a December graduate and will be at Kansas State in January. He will have two years of eligibility remaining at K-State and still has a redshirt available.
