Kansas State has added commitment No. 8 in the 2024 recruiting class in the form of Topeka Seaman safety and former Nebraska pledge Callen Barta. The announcement Barta comes on the heels of an official visit for the TCU game over the weekend.

It was actually his second trip to Manhattan during the month of October. He had visited on a prior Sunday.

Barta was originally committed to the Cornhuskers and did so over the Summer. However, in the last month K-State turned up the heat on the in-state product. Both sides were very interested in coming together on an agreement and did so very quickly.

Kansas State is no stranger to flipping prospects under head coach Chris Klieman. In fact, the Wildcats have flipped at least one prospect in every recruiting cycle since he was hired.

Other potential flip candidates to watch include Boone Morris (UTSA), Jacques Spradley-Demps (North Texas) and Trae Davis (Washington State). Morris and Spradley-Demps also took official visits to K-State for the 41-3 win over the Horned Frogs. It is likely those two could flip to the reigning Big 12 Champions as well.

The fourth Kansas State official visitor of the weekend was Kansas City edge rusher Jayshawn Ross.

Landing in-state prospects has always been a priority for K-State. Barta becomes the fourth from Kansas to join the Wildcats in the 2024 cycle, adding to a group of Kaedin Massey, Gus Hawkins and John Price.

Kansas State has landed at least four in-state prospects in every recruiting cycle of the Klieman era.

Barta is a two-way star for the Seaman High Vikings. He has tallied 1024 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns on offense as well as 22 tackles and three interceptions on defense. Though he plays on both sides of the ball, he will play defense for K-State.

Specifically, Barta will be playing strong safety in Manhattan.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking (combination of the four networks), Barta is a three star recruit and the No. 9 player in the Sunflower State. The senior will also be enrolling in Manhattan in January.
