Kansas State has landed another high schooler in the 2024 recruiting class. Following an official visit to K-State over the weekend, Bishop Gorman running back DeVon Rice has committed to the Wildcats. It also comes on the heels of him being visited in Las Vegas by head coach Chris Klieman.

The trip to Manhattan was not his first time on campus.

Rice also visited for a game during the season and hit it off with the Kansas State coaching staff. They remained in contact and scheduled an official visit soon afterwards. Rice was joined by other official visitors in North Dakota transfer Easton Kilty and Butler C.C. defensive lineman Malcolm Alcorn-Crowder. Kilty has also committed to K-State since his official visit in Manhattan.

K-State technically flips Rice since he was committed to Hawaii. However, he had other Power Five suitors as well after a monster final season at Bishop Gorman. He just chose not to announce them publicly and even held off sharing his Kansas State opportunity for a long time.

While at one point Kansas State was just going to take one high school running back in John Price, things have changed.

Anthony Frias and Treshaun Ward will not be in The Little Apple next season and K-State has more space for a second running back in the class. Everyone was aware that it was a possibility, and it was communicated to Price.

Rice ran for 576 yards on just 52 carries this season and added 10 touchdowns. He shared the backfield in Las Vegas with another Power Five prospect. He also collected seven catches for 149 yards and another four scores.

He becomes high school commitment No. 13 for the Wildcats. Rice is the second running back and eighth overall offensive player in the 2024 recruiting class for K-State. According to the On3 Industry Ranking, (a combination of all four recruiting services), the senior running back is a mid-three star prospect and the No. 7 player in the state of Nevada.

Rice will also be enrolling in January at Kansas State.
