One of Kentucky’s top targets in the class of 2023 is officially off the board.

On Thursday, Chris Parson announced his commitment to Florida State. The Brentwood (Tenn.) Ravenwood quarterback is a top-300 prospect per the 247 Sports Composite and had visited Lexington in June. After the trip, Parson spoke glowingly about his time in Lexington.

The top-20 quarterback in the class of 2023 continues a hot recruiting run for second-year head coach Mike Norvell. The ‘Noles are on pace to have a top-15 class in 2022 headlined by top-five prospect Travis Hunter who could play cornerback and wide receiver in college to go along with top-100 quarterback AJ Duffy. Parson becomes Florida State’s fourth pledge in the class of 2023.

The dual-threat quarterback told KSR after his June visit to Kentucky that he had planned to visit Lexington for the LSU game in October. It is unsure whether visits to other schools will continue after this commitment. Kentucky’s attention will now switch to Birmingham (Ala.) Briarwood Christian quarterback Christopher Vizzina. The 6-foot-4 pocket passer now appears to be the top target on Liam Coen’s recruiting board.

However, don’t be surprised if some more rising junior prospects start to emerge in the coming weeks. Kentucky is on the hunt to fix the quarterback position, and the best way to do that in college football is through high school recruiting.
