Trentyn Flowers wasn’t the biggest name suiting up for Team Durant on Friday night — that would be class of 2023 five-star Kwame Evans Jr. — but it might not be that way for much longer.

Flowers is a class of 2024 small forward, clocking in at 6-foot-8, 180 pounds. He recently finished up his sophomore season at Huntington Prep (WV) but will play his junior year at Sierra Canyon (CA). Flowers was tabbed as the No. 25 overall recruit in the initial 2024 On3 player rankings earlier this month. The On3 Consensus, which factors in other recruiting service rankings, has him as a top-15 prospect and a borderline five-star.

While putting up impressive numbers with Huntington Prep, Flowers’ recruitment received a serious shot in the arm. He’s hauled in offers from the likes of Kansas, Georgetown, Memphis, USC, Tennessee, LSU, and Michigan with plenty more expected to follow. There’s a chance Kentucky could be one of the schools to ultimately extend an offer, along with some other big-name Blue Bloods.

UNC and Kentucky and Duke have been pretty heavy on me lately,” Flowers told KSR on Friday. Other programs such as Oregon, Syracuse, Texas Tech, TCU, and recently Louisville have all made a good first impression on him, as well.

It’s still very early in his recruitment process, but Flowers has been hearing from Kentucky assistant coach Orlando Antigua.

“I talk to Coach Orlando (Antigua) sometimes,” Flowers said. “Coach Orlando, he just loves the way I play, he says he loves my length and how I affect the game. So it’s just keeping that good relationship with them and when it comes down to it, just giving them a heavy look.”

An offer might not happen this spring or summer, but the Wildcat coaching staff is keeping a close eye on Flowers in case they ultimately do wish to extend him one. Flowers is playing up in Indianapolis this weekend for the second session of the Nike EYBL circuit, where he had a solid showing in his first outing. He posted 11 points and three rebounds for Team Durant in a 66-60 win while playing up a year with the U17 squads. He looked anything but out-of-place while Kentucky assistant Jai Lucas briefly scouted him from the sidelines.

“I thought I played well,” Flowers added. “Just playing with a new team, I feel like my mindset wasn’t all the way there, I missed some easy shots, but I feel like when I got to my mid-range and I was able to make some plays downhill so that’s the best part of my game so I was able to do that.”

As of right now, Flowers has just one visit planned for the near future. He’ll travel to Georgia State, which offered him in early April, to show the program some love. But after that, he’s unsure which campuses he’ll visit as of right now. Kentucky will be in the mix, though.
