3-star '24 LB Steven Soles visited Kentucky this week
Steven Soles Jr. was initially scheduled to take an official visit to Kentucky in early June. He told KSR in May that the plan was to OV at UK and Virginia Tech in the summer — something changed though. The trip to Kentucky ultimately didn’t happen, but the three-star prospect found his way to Lexington on Thursday for an unofficial.
Suiting up for Powell (TN) High, Soles is a 6-foot-2, 215-pound linebacker from the class of 2024. He’s considered the No. 915 overall rising senior and a top 90 linebacker by the On3 Industry Ranking, producing 17 sacks as a junior in 2022. Kentucky wide receivers coach Scott Woodward and inside linebackers coach Mike Stoops have been in contact with Soles, who announced an offer from the ‘Cats on April 21.
So far this year, Soles has taken unofficial visits to the likes of Virginia Tech, South Florida, and Mississippi State. He was at Austin Peay earlier this week for a visit, too. Soles is expected to save his official with Kentucky until the fall for a gameday visit, but a late July unofficial is certainly notable.

Soles’ recruitment has been tough to gauge up to this point. In mid-June, he indicated on social media that a commitment would be coming on June 25, but then announced just a week later that he would no longer be going through with that timeline. A new commitment date has yet to be scheduled as he continues to take more visits.
Kentucky currently has 14 commits locked in for the 2024 cycle, including a pair of linebackers in three-star Antwan Smith and four-star Elijah Groves. The staff certainly doesn’t seem to mind the option of adding a third into the fold.
