What a way to start an exciting weekend of football. Brandon White, a three-star class of 2022 wide receiver from Archbishop Moeller (OH), announced his commitment to the Kentucky Wildcats on Friday’s radio show. One of the fastest high schoolers in America, White chose UK over West Virginia, Indiana, and Purdue.

I just felt at home (with Kentucky), automatically, in the beginning of the recruitment and just continued to get that support from them even when I was maybe at different places,” White told KSR ahead of his announcement. “It was just always that love and that family vibe where it’s always genuine.”

White is the 15th class of 2022 commit and an ideal fit for Liam Coen’s offense. The speedy senior ran a 4.28-second 40-yard dash and a 10.3-second 100-yard dash as a junior. White initially picked up his offer from Kentucky back in June following an impressive camp visit, then came back to Lexington for an official visit in the middle of September.

But it wasn’t until he saw Liam Coen’s offense in action that White knew Kentucky was the place for him.

That actually was a big impact, seeing that and seeing what he’s doing,” White said in regards to Coen’s offense about why he chose Kentucky. “Although hearing it from him while getting recruited, for him to do it and put up the numbers and do the things that everybody else sees on Saturdays and things like that, it was a no-brainer for me. I see myself striving and being great for sure.

His offense is probably one of the best college offenses I’ve seen so far.”

Through four games for Moeller in the 2021 season, Brandon White has caught nine passes for 243 yards and three touchdowns for an impressive average of 27.0 yards per reception. He’s also occasionally used in the rushing attack and is the team’s primary kick returner. White missed the majority of his junior season due to injury, but he’s fully recovered for his senior year.

Moeller-to-Kentucky connection

Kentucky actually has two Moeller grads on the current roster with one more on the way: Sophomore DB Carrington Valentine and junior TE Brenden Bates are already with UK while class of 2022 TE Josh Kattus will arrive with White.

Valentine and Bates have both made significant impacts this season while Kattus is Moeller’s leading receiver playing alongside White. Kattus has 15 catches in four games for 244 yards. Kentucky’s associate head coach Vince Marrow has established a pipeline at Moeller that continues to pay off.

“Having that bond with him already and my family just loving him and how much he got to know my mom and my dad and even my brother. People that I value, he tends to value even more than me,” White said about Coach Marrow. “It’s always been a good relationship with him.”

Part of Marrow and Kentucky’s pitch to the 5-foot-9 White has been filling the void that will eventually be left by Wan’Dale Robinson. That doesn’t mean the Big Blue Nation should expect White to step in and make big plays from day one, but the idea is he’ll be used in a similar fashion to Robinson.

I’ll just say that whenever I put on that blue, it’s gonna be special,” White said.
