Jaylen Mosley had never been to Lexington prior to this weekend. Before his trip could even wrap up, he was extended a scholarship offer by Kentucky’s wide receivers coach Scott Woodward. It was something he could sense was on the way.

Considered a four-star recruit and a top 200 prospect in the class of 2025 by On3, Mosley is a high-profile target for the Kentucky coaching staff, which made sure to show him a good time for his first visit to UK. He’s already earned offers from the likes of Ole Miss, Tennessee, Auburn, Louisville, Purdue, Vanderbilt, Arizona, and many others, but now Kentucky is making a move on the Jackson (TN) Christian product.

“When I got there, I talked to Coach Woody and we just talked about my game Friday and the different positions I can play. He just let me know that they want me there,” Mosley told KSR. “I also talked to the head coach (Mark Stoops) and he was like they’re gonna be recruiting me hard and he really wants me there.”

Although he’s listed as a safety, Mosley can play all over the field. Kentucky is recruiting him as a wide receiver but the staff told him he would have positional flexibility if he were to ultimately choose the Wildcats. He also met with some of UK’s defensive coaches while on his visit, including defensive coordinator Brad White.

That being said, Mosley is primarily suiting up (and excelling) at wide-out for Jackson Christian this season. Through just three games, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound junior has 31 catches for 545 yards and six touchdowns. He’s even hauled in an interception on defense for the undefeated (3-0) Eagles.

As for his overall recruitment, plenty of big-name schools are vying for his services. Mosley says he’ll visit Missouri this weekend with future plans to check out Alabama and Cincinnati in the upcoming weeks. But Kentucky made quite the first impression on him. He especially enjoyed the gameday atmosphere and how loud Kroger Field was throughout Saturday afternoon.

“Since I’ve never been there, I didn’t know what to expect,” Mosley said. “Since I’ve been there now, they’ve moved up on my list because the coaches, they’re all cool and you can talk to them about more than just football and that’s what I love about coaches — when I can talk to them about other things than just football.”

While this was Mosley’s first time at UK, he’s no stranger to the program. Jackson Christian’s linebackers coach is former Kentucky linebacker Avery Williamson, who has been putting in a good word about the Wildcats in recent weeks.

“He tells me about Kentucky all the time,” Mosley told KSR prior to his UK visit. “He lets me know what’s going on at Kentucky all the time.”
