CJ Blocker, a four-star class of 2023 cornerback out of Texas, was in Lexington over the weekend for a visit to the University of Kentucky. But just a couple of days later, Blocker recommitted to the Utah Utes.

On Tuesday afternoon, Blocker announced on social media that he will rejoin the school he first committed to back in June. The 5-foot-10, 160-pound defensive back backed off his pledge to Utah in late November and released a top five on Dec. 7 that included Utah, Southern California, Alabama, Kentucky, and Colorado. But in the end, he stuck with his first choice, committing once again to Utah.

Blocker attends the same Texas-based high school, New Caney, that current Kentucky cornerback Zion Childress did. Childress was vocal on social media about his desire to see Blocker join him in Lexington.

It was a bit of a shock to see Blocker schedule an official visit to Kentucky in the first place, but the Wildcats had a legitimate shot at landing his services. He picked up an offer from defensive backs coach Chris Collins on Nov. 20, just three days before he decommitted from Utah.

The son of a former Sooner, Blocker hosted an in-home visit with the Oklahoma staff and ultimately earned a scholarship from head coach Brent Venables on Dec. 8. Additionally, TCU was reportedly in the mix for his services, new Colorado head coach Deion Sanders extended him an offer, and he was expected to take an official visit to USC this weekend.

But in the end, Blocker trusted his gut. He is considered the No. 344 overall prospect and No. 37 cornerback in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus.
