wall41 Raise your hand if you're good at basketball! - The Cats jumped Purdue to #4 in the polls this week.  The top three (Kansas, Texas, Villanova) remain steady, while our little brother Louisville dropped out of the Top 25 after their home loss to UNC-Charlotte.  Connecticut comes in at #12, but only beat Harvard by 6 at home yesterday.  We've already got 'em scared. - Surprise, surprise... John Wall has been named SEC Freshman of the Week.  Wall averaged 14 points, 10.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 7 broken ankles in the wins over those Carolina schools.  Kentucky has swept the Freshman of the Week honors this season. - Speaking of sweeping Freshman of the Week honors, UK Hoops' A'dia Mathies was also named SEC Freshman of the Week.  She averaged 10 points, 5.5 assists, and 4 rebounds in two wins last week for Coach Mitchell's Hoops team.  I heard the New York Liberty could intentionally lose games to pick Mathies with the first pick in the WNBA Draft. - And to continue the "of the week" honors, Kentucky is ESPN's Team of the Week.  Other teams that were in consideration: Wisconsin, Charlotte (I guess ESPN still thinks Louisville is legit), Texas Tech, and the Illinois "Fighting Alex Legion's Moms."  Good call on picking Kentucky.  It's good to see that Andy Katz has his head on straight even when he is skipping out on podcasts.  (I just saw that Beisner posted this earlier.  I guess it never hurts to read it twice.)
