Ahmad Wagner waived by Chicago Bears

Former Kentucky wide receiver Ahmad Wagner is looking for a new home.
With NFL teams needing to trim down their rosters to 53 players by Saturday at 4 p.m. ET, Wagner was among those waived by the Chicago Bears on Thursday.
We have waived RB Napoleon Maxwell, WRs Alex Wesley and Ahmad Wagner, OL Corey Levin, DL Lee Autry and LB Keandre Jones.

After going undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft back in April, the former Wildcat signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Bears and was hoping to make the final roster as a wideout or a tight end. He made it through camp, but couldn’t hang on in the final round of cuts leading up to the regular season, which begins next week.

Though he won’t be on the final roster, the Bears are reportedly interested in bringing Wagner back as a practice squad player, with each team being allowed 16 practice squad spots.
In two seasons at Kentucky, Wagner played in 23 total games with 11 starts, picking up a total of 15 catches for 254 yards and two touchdowns, good for an average of 16.9 yards per catch.
Out of 42 total targets in his career, Wagner drew a pass interference on 12 separate occasions.
