American Pharoah wins the Kentucky Derby!
The favorite American Pharoah won the 141st running of the Kentucky Derby. After winning the Derby on California Chrome last year, jockey Victor Espinoza once again wins the Kentucky Derby. American Pharaoh was one of two horses in the race for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert. His other horse, Dortmund, came in third place. This is Baffert’s fourth Derby win, but his first win since 2002. Thanks to picture perfect weather, a record crowd of 170,513 witnessed the Run for the Roses at Churchill Downs.
