Kentucky keeps racking up recruiting wins in July. Saturday afternoon wide receiver Anthony Brown announced his commitment to Kentucky, choosing the Wildcats over Oklahoma, Michigan, Penn State and Cincinnati.

Brown is a four-star wide receiver and the No. 395 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Chalk this up as another significant recruiting win for Vince Marrow in the state of Ohio. Now the 12th member of Kentucky’s 2023 recruiting class, Brown is the seventh player primarily recruited by the Big Dog. The Wildcats have a pair of four-star pass-catchers committed as Brown joins top 200 wide receiver Shamar Porter. Following the addition of Brown, Kentucky’s ’23 class jumped up three spots to No. 32 in the On3 Consensus Team Rankings.

Brown currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $18k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Former Wildcats Help Kentucky’s Recruiting Efforts

Vince Marrow did not secure this commitment without a little help. Brown officially visited Kentucky’s campus in June. He was hosted by current UK slot receiver Tayvion Robinson. Record-breaking New York Giant Wan’Dale Robinson also returned to Lexington in May to provide a pitch to John Legend’s nephew. Lynn Bowden did not meet Brown in-person, but he did tell the young star to “go be the next great one.”

Anthony Brown Adds Speed to the Slot

A 5-foot-9 wide receiver, Anthony Brown is coached by former Wildcat Moe Douglass at Springfield High School. He’s the fourth player from the school to join Mark Stoops’ program. Last year he helped the Wildcats reached the Division I State Championship Game (Ohio’s largest class) by catching 57 passes for 822 yards and nine touchdowns. Brown flies by opponents and stretches the defense as a deep play threat. As Kentucky shifts its emphasis to speed in the passing game, Anthony Brown is bringing that and so much more to the Big Blue Nation.
