Former fifth-round draft pick Avery Williamson needed only one season in Nashville to prove his worth to the Tennessee Titans. Now entering his second year in the NFL, the former Wildcat is already the franchise's leader on defense. “I told him, ‘It’s your defense. Just run it. You’ve got the say-so. You’ve got the power. We listen to you. You don’t listen to us,’” said Zach Brown, the linebacker, not the country music singer. “All the DBs and D-line have all told (Williamson) that we’re behind him. He calls it, and we follow him. He has the power now.” Williams was named AFC South Rookie of the Year last season, after finishing third on the team in tackles with 51, plus three sacks. He will move from weakside inside linebacker, where he stepped in for the injured Brown last year, over to the starting strongside inside position in Tennessee's 3-4 defense. “He’s our middle linebacker, so we go out there and listen to his word. He’s just got to demand that type of respect when he speaks,” said All-Pro defensive tackle, Jurrell Casey. While Williamson's quick rise up the ranks may be a little unexpected to fans around the league, we here in Big Blue Nation aren't the least bit surprised.
