Mark Stoops is losing arguably the greatest wide receiver in Kentucky football history. Five-star talent Barion Brown does not want the Wildcats to miss a beat in 2022 without Wan’Dale Robinson.

Wan’Dale recently capped off an historic season in Lexington. He broke the UK single-season receptions and receiving yards record, then declared for the NFL Draft. Replacing that kind of talent is a tall task, but Brown might have the chops for it.

Brown Shows Off Five-Star Talent

Ranked by On3 as the No. 24 football overall recruit in the 2022 recruiting class, he’s lived up to the hype in preparation of Saturday’s All-American Bowl. One of the most explosive players on the field in San Antonio, he’s turned heads against the nation’s top prep players during every All-American practice. Yesterday Brown scored an impressive touchdown down the sideline and drew an audible reaction from the crowd following this move.

After practice, he spoke with On3’s Jeremy Johnson. Brown is proud to pave his own path at Kentucky, one that appears much more feasible after seeing Wan’Dale’s success in 2021.

“I’m very excited because I know if they have a playmaker, they’re going to get their playmaker the ball anyway and in any fashion,” Brown said. “That’s a plus for me… I think I going to give them an instant game-changer coming in and making plays. I want to give the crowd another Wan’Dale. I’m just replacing that. That’s all I’m doing.”

Brown and Robinson received similar recruiting rankings in high school. The biggest different between the two is about three inches. Like Robinson, Brown plays at a different speed than his opponents and it’s evident as he blows by the nation’s top defensive backs at the All-American Bowl. Brown has all of the tools to make an immediate impact for the Wildcats in 2022.
