Barnhart: UK to allow 12,000 fans in Kroger Field

During UK's September Board of Trustees meeting, Mitch Barnhart said he expects to have 12,000 fans in the stands for Kentucky football games this fall, pending final approval, while other fall sports will be restricted to family only. "We can spread them out and it will look a little different," Barnhart said of the football crowd, which will be required to wear masks. Private suites will be limited to 10 seats and tailgating will not be permitted in the parking lots. "That's where we are and we'll be working with our ticket holders in the next few days to unveil the opportunities for them to come be a part of our fan base in Kroger Field," he said. As for how the 12,000 fans will be decided, Barnhart said K Fund points will come into play. "You get points for being a season ticket holder, how many tickets you hold, contributions to the University of Kentucky, all of those pieces," he said. Fans will then be split into groups and contacted by the ticket office and K Fund staff to determine which games they'll attend and how they'll be seated. Again, this is all pending approval from the governor's office, and said only to UK's Board of Trustees in an open meeting.
