Following yet another dominant SEC series sweep for Kentucky, the Cats rose nine spots to No. 8 in the latest D1Baseball Top 25 Rankings.

The Bat Cats outscored Alabama 23-3 over the three-game span, securing their third SEC sweep of the season (Georgia, Ole Miss, and Alabama)

Kentucky is just one of eight SEC teams featured in this week’s Top 25, joined by No. 1 Arkansas, No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 4 Tennessee, No. 6 Vanderbilt, No. 22 Mississippi State, No. 24 Florida, and No. 25 Alabama.

It’s been a meteoric rise for Nick Mingione’s team, as Kentucky was unranked just three weeks ago.

In that span, they’ve been one of, if not the hottest, teams in all of college baseball. The Bat Cats have won 15 of their last 16 games, including sweeps of Georgia, Ole Miss, and then No. 17 ranked Alabama.

Over its first four conference series, Kentucky is outscoring opponents a combined 114-43.

D1Baseball’s Kendall Rogers was once again impressed by the Cats over the weekend.

“Another very strong home weekend for [Kentucky], as the Wildcats finish off a three-game series sweep of Alabama with a 10-1 win. [The] Bat Cats outscored the Crimson Tide 23-3 in three games. Some outstanding pitching yet again [Sunday].”

The Bat Cats will take their No. 8 ranking to Samford on Tuesday for their second road midweek game of the season. First pitch is at 7:30 p.m. EST on ESPN+.
