Anthony Davis led the way with 41 points Tuesday night as the Los Angeles Lakers toppled the Toronto Raptors 132-131 in LA. With the win, the Lakers are back to .500 on the season with a 19-19 record.

The 2023-24 NBA season has been a wild ride for the Lakers, as they won all seven of their NBA In-Season Tournament games to be crowned the first-ever NBA In-Season Tournament Champions. However, in regular season games that didn’t count towards the tournament, the Lakers are just 13-19 and are currently clinging onto an NBA Playoff Play-In Tournament bid.

Davis dropped 20 of his season-high 41 points (13-17 FG) in the fourth quarter to push LA just over Immanuel Quickley and his new Raptor squad. Along with his 41 points, Davis grabbed 11 rebounds, securing his 30th double-double of the season.

“It wasn’t just me,” Davis said after the win. “Big-time stops. We got rebounds, and they wanted me to get the ball as far as free throws, but the team was just making the right reads and trying to finish.” AD hit all eight of his fourth quarter free-throw attempts.

For the Lakers, a team scratching and clawing for a Play-In Tournament spot, a home win over a team they were favored against is a must win game. They got it.

Immanuel Quickley continued to impress for his new team Tuesday night, scoring 21 points (8-14 FG) in 26 minutes played. IQ hit 4-6 three-point attempts and dished out five assists. With the loss, Toronto falls to 15-22 and are on the outside looking in at a Play-In Tournament berth.

Jarred Vanderbilt played 18 minutes off the bench, scoring three points (1-2 FG) and grabbing six rebounds.

KAT leads way as T’Wolves Keep on Winning

We might be witnessing the greatest Minnesota Timberwolves season in their franchise’s history.

Karl-Anthony Towns scored 28 points (5-5 3PT) and grabbed six rebounds in Minnesota’s 113-92 blowout victory over the up-and-coming Orlando Magic Tuesday night. KAT has now scored 22-plus points in five consecutive games as the T’Wolves improved to 26-10 this season.

Along with his 28 points, KAT made the play of the night in the NBA, posterizing poor Mo Wagner in the second quarter of the victory.

Other BBNBA Notes:

  • De’Aaron Fox scored 26 points on 10-19 shooting in Sacramento’s 131-110 loss over the pitiful Detroit Pistons Tuesday night. Malik Monk got back on track with a 20 point effort, while Trey Lyles contributed six points in 32 minutes off the bench. Kevin Knox scored eight points in the loss, as the Pistons fall to 3-34 on the season.
  • Since the Immanuel Quickley trade, the New York Knicks are now 5-0 in their last five games. Julius Randle continued his heater off a midseason run, scoring 20 points while grabbing seven rebounds and dishing eight assists in the win. Randle is averaging 28.8 PPG and 8.6 RPG over their last 10 games. All-Star.
