Although Miami’s three-game winning streak was snapped Monday night, Bam Adebayo continued his All-Star-caliber season.

The former second-team All-SEC selection finished with 20 points and 13 rebounds, good for his 22nd double-double of the season. Adebayo’s 22 double-doubles rank ninth in the NBA this season. Big Blue alum Julius Randle ranks third in the NBA with 27 double-doubles.

Adebayo is one of only four players this season averaging 20+ points and 10+ rebounds per game while shooting 50% from the field, joined by 2x MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, 2x MVP Nikola Jokic, and former ‘Cat Anthony Davis.

Tyler Herro had a rough shooting night, scoring 15 points on 7/16 shooting from the field and a dreadful 1/8 mark from behind the three-point line. Statistically, Monday night was Herro’s third-worst game of the season. The “Bucket” is currently 22nd in the NBA in three-pointers made this season with 108. Once again, Randle is the leading ‘Cat when it comes to three-pointers made, sitting at 13th in the league with 118.

Hello, Wenyen Gabriel.

Wenyen Gabriel is playing the best basketball of his life right now.

A career sixth-to-seventh man at Kentucky, most wouldn’t have expected Gabriel to last as long in the NBA as he has. After a few tough years grinding with the Kings, Blazers, Pelicans, Nets, and Clippers, Gabriel seems to have found a home in the City of Angels.

Since the turn of the new year, Gabriel has posted three of the highest four +/- games of his career.

In the Lakers’ 140-132 win over the Houston Rockets, Gabriel contributed 14 points, nine rebounds and a +15 in 24 minutes off the bench.

Through 35 games this season, Wenyen is averaging a career-high 6.6 PPG, 4.1 RPG and 0.7 BPG.

Other BBNBA Notes:

  • PJ Washington and Jarred Vanderbilt both had productive nights for their respective teams, although only one came away with a win. The Charlotte Hornets fell 130-118 to the Celtics despite 17 points, four rebounds, and three assists from Washington, who shot 5-9 from the field. Meanwhile, Vanderbilt and the Utah Jazz squeaked out a 126-125 win over the Karl-Anthony Towns-less Minnesota Timberwolves. Vando went for 15 points, eight rebounds, and four rebounds on 4-5 shooting.
