RECAP

  • In off-the-court news, joining Hamidou Diallo in Charlotte for All-Star Weekend will be Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns and De'Aaron Fox of the Sacramento Kings. Diallo was recently selected to participate in the Slam Dunk Contest and Tuesday it was announced that Booker would participate in the Three-Point Contest while Fox will showcase his handles in the Skills Challenge. Those three will join Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Davis, who are set to play in the All-Star game on Sunday. I hope you've cleared your schedule for next weekend, because Kentucky blue is going to be in every event.

[30-25] Clippers - 117 @ [26-27] Hornets - 115

  • The Los Angeles Clippers got a clutch win over the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday thanks to a go-ahead game-winning running jumper from Tobias Harris with 4.3 seconds left. Harris, who scored 34 points in the game while dealing with a shoulder injury, was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers later that night in a monster deal. And that is the brutal reality of the NBA trade deadline. We still have a whole day left of this! Shai Gilgeous-Alexander contributed six points and three assists for the Clippers in 17 minutes.
  • For Charlotte, who was on the cusp of its own blockbuster deal for Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol only for it to fall apart later in the day, they blew a 20-point lead with less than 16 minutes left in the game. Malik Monk added 12 points on 4-11 shooting while Michael Kidd-Gilchrist brought in two points and two rebounds.

Other notes

  • Karl-Anthony Towns was easily the BBNBA player of the night, posting 26 points and 18 rebounds against the aforementioned Grizzlies, who sidelined Gasol in apparent preparation for a potential trade. Memphis sure could have used Gasol, too, as Towns shot 8-14 from the field and also added three assists in 34 minutes. However, the Timberwolves fell in a close game 106-108.
  • In New York, the Knicks dropped another game, this time to the Detroit Pistons. Enes Kanter was a DNP-Coaches Decision for the second straight game but Kevin Knox received his 25th consecutive start while posting 12 points and seven rebounds in 34 minutes.
