Kentucky transfer, Kerr Kriisa, once confronted Luka Doncic and said, “It’s easy to get in his head.” Well, Luka was the one doing the trash-talking and will live in Minnesota Timberwolves fans’ heads rent-free for a while after Friday night. Karl-Anthony Towns and the Wolves once held a 20-point lead but as we have seen so many times in this year’s NBA playoffs, no lead is safe.

The Dallas Mavericks were down two, 106-108, with under 10 seconds left in regulation. Luka Doncic had NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Rudy Gobert, isolated at the top of the key. After a series of crossover dribbles and a step back, Doncic launched the game-winning 3 over Gobert’s outstretched 7-foot-9-inch wingspan.

Splash.

Naz Reid, who had been hot all game and earned minutes on the final possession over Karl-Anthony Towns, got a decent look at 3 on the ensuing inbounds play, but his shot rattled out and the Dallas Mavericks took a 2-0 series lead, winning both games in Minnesota.

Despite watching the final minutes from the bench, Towns finished with a solid stat line of 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals, but it came on a poor shooting night. The former Kentucky big man shot just 4-16 from the field and 1-5 from behind the arc.

He did roll up to the arena dressed in baggy jeans and a cutoff flannel, though, so he has that going for him.

As for PJ Washington, he had a quiet 10 points, five boards, a steal, and two blocks, but he continues to be a key part of the Mavericks’ playoff run.

These teams will fly back to Texas for Game 3 on Sunday.
