It was a generally light day for the NBA on Sunday, which had only five total games being played on Halloween. Even so, some of the former Wildcats showed out some of their tricks on the court. Let’s dive in.

P.J. Washington pours in 17 off the bench for the Hornets

This Hornets team is actually starting to turn some heads early into the season. Sitting at 5-2 and led by LaMelo Ball, this team plays an absurdly fast style of offense that utilizes everybody’s youth and length to pace things up the floor. P.J. Washington and Kelly Oubre are playing fantastic off the bench as heads of the second unit, which they kept up with last night.

Oubre had 26 on 8-14 shooting. P.J. *only* dropped 17, but that is on a perfect 8-8 from the field in only 21 minutes of action. Other than his shooting totals, which overall are up on the year comparative to his other couple seasons, P.J.’s numbers are consistently down across the board this year. That won’t really matter much though if they just keep winning. He’s excelling in his role, so why change anything?

Anthony Davis drops 16 in double-digit win over the Rockets

AD continued his campaign for best player on the Lakers yesterday in their 95-85 win over the Rockets. Davis ended up with 16 points, 13 rebounds and a couple of assists.

Sitting at 4-3 now, the Lakers still have a ton of work to figure out before they can consider themselves serious contenders. They have to figure out who’s going to lead this team down the stretch and as the season drags on. Russ is going to want to be that guy, but as we’ve seen before, that cannot happen if you want to consider yourself a serious franchise.

LeBron finally looks like he may take a step back if necessary, which leaves NBA Top 75 player Anthony Davis. AD is averaging nearly 25 and 11 through the first few weeks of the season. With those numbers, it should be obvious who the Lakers should be going through down the stretch.
