In just over two weeks, the NBA Playoffs will begin on April 20th. Right now, a lot of teams and a lot of players are trying to coast their way into the postseason. However, the Philadelphia 76ers are just the 8-seed in the Eastern Conference. With Joel Embiid playing in just his second game back from injury, Tyrese Maxey has been tasked with carrying much of the load.

Of course, Maxey has answered the call, and he put up incredible numbers yet again on Thursday night.

Against the Miami Heat, Maxey scored a game-high 37 points on 15-26 (5-14 3PT) shooting. On top of that, he racked up 11 assists and nine rebounds, just missing the triple-double. Still though, the former SEC All-Freshman was all over the place on Thursday.

Coming down the wire, every game is crucial — especially for a team that is on the Play-In bubble like the 76ers. Maxey’s effort was just enough to get his squad over the hump. The 76ers have been looking for a trip to the NBA Finals for several years now. Of course, that’s still unlikely this year, but avoiding the Play-In Tournament would greatly help those odds.

Other BBNBA Notes:

  • De’Aaron Fox scored 29 points alongside Trey Lyles‘ 10, but the Kings still fell to the Knicks in a 120-109 loss.
  • The Mavericks got a much-needed win over the Hawks thanks in part to a 19-point, eight-rebound game from P.J. Washington.
  • Bam Adebayo‘s 14 points and 11 rebounds were not enough to get a win for the Heat as they lost to the 76ers at home.
