Beechwood Class A State Champs
The first of the Kentucky High School Football State Championships produced a predictable winner this morning as Beechwood took the title, as they seem to every year, 38-35 over Lexington Christian. Lex Christian, best known for having that school that is out behind the mall, had made an admirable run up the football food chain in recent years, but Beechwood nevertheless held on to its glory in a nip and tuck battle. Beechwood (whose 1959 class yearbook picture is above) now celebrates its championship and thanks its lucky stars that Middlesboro is now a 2A school.
