Big Week for Cats' Recruiting

by:Matt Jones11/12/07
cartr It was a great weekend in the Big Blue Nation, as the Cats gutted out a big victory in Nashville that likely ensures that it wont end up at a bowl game worse than the one they played in last year (although the Liberty is on the table with two losses) and back to back 7 win season for the first time in 30 years. Thus while the football program is set up well, this week produces a big decision for the future of the basketball program. It doesnt take the Tsar of the Telestrator to know that Kentucky needs a big man to play alongside Patrick Patterson desperately. And there simply arent that many big men in the country that can have an impact who have not already made their decision. Thus fingers need to be crossed as we await final word from Chris Singleton. Mr. Singleton.....a recruit that has a great deal of importance and misinformation. Most of the info I am hearing that is credible points to Florida State. However unlike last year, where sources on recruits all were very confident that they knew where a kid was going (even when they were wrong), for Singleton everyone I speak with is clear to say, "I really have no idea what he will do." Many believe that Florida State's extension for Leonard Hamilton bodes well and that the FSU staff's confidence suggests that Chris is bound to do the tomahawk chop. However the UK people are all over this one as well, with Billy Clyde in Atlanta on Thursday and daily communication from Coach Cyp and Billy Clyde. The importance of Singleton is large and the staff knows this....and privately they feel very good as well. As for me, I have no idea as Chris stopped communicating with the press a few weeks ago and has kept quiet since dropping the Vols a few weeks back. Wednesday is the day of reckoning......Singleton makes his decision and UK's front line future stands at the brink. Cross your fingers.....
