There's an old UK basketball tale that claims Billy Gillispie once kicked John Wall out of a practice over a ringing cell phone on Wall's visit to Kentucky. Though incredibly hard to believe, we now have confirmation that it did indeed happen, according to Wall himself.
Wall was a guest on Tuesday night's Hey Kentucky and Matt Jones asked him to confirm or deny the old rumor that says he was told to leave the facility when his cell phone rang during a UK practice. The former Wildcat simply said, "Yeah that's true," with a smile.
When asked what he thought when that happened, Wall told the show, "I would never play for this man."
Luckily, a man named John Calipari came in months later to replace Gillispie and he convinced Wall to go to Kentucky.
