Bob Gibbons TOC Mid-Day Notes

by:Matt Jones05/26/07
osby1.jpeg A few quick hits before the evening: (1) UK target Romero Osby continues to impress. He can do a bit of everything, scoring inside and out and showcasing tremendous athleticism. Everything about Osby in his first game reeks potential star and he is the type of inside athletic presence UK has not had in a long time. He lists a number of schools, but notes that Kentucky and Louisville are the two that seem the most interested in him. (2) I must say that Tyler Zeller impressed me much more than I thought he would. He had 16 points in his first game this afternoon, but what was much more impressive to me was the way that he ran the floor and his ability to make athletic moves to the basket. The defense needs work, but he is much farther along than what I remembered. UK is one of the favorites here, along with Purdue, Indiana and Notre Dame. (3) Former Tubby target, Kevin Jones was an odd player to watch. He is a bit awkward, and shorter than he is listed (only about 6'7"). However the kid finds a way to get the ball in the basket, scoring 19 in the first half of his game today. I spoke with Jones a bit and he really loves UK and still receives contact from Gillispie. Rick Pitino is scheduled to be in contact next week. (4) Scotty Hopson from UHA continued his AAU dominance.....35 in his first game. The kid is AAU great, high school mediocre. Mississippi State is still his choice at this point. More from Zeller, DeAndre Liggins, and others later. From Nashville, we have found out that Tubby commitment, Draymond Green (Day Day), still has an offer from UK and Gillispie is still in contact. Scroll down and you will see Marc Maggard's reports and interviews with Willie Warren, Greg Monroe and Tony Woods. Great day of news here.....stay tuned....
