John Calipari’s 2024 recruiting class features both the top-ranked point guard and the top-ranked center.

On Monday, our good friends over at On3 updated the class of 2024 high school boys’ basketball player rankings — the ninth update for this cycle. Kentucky four-star signee Boogie Fland checked in at No. 21 overall and holds down the top spot among all point guard prospects. Meanwhile, fellow signee Jayden Quiantance, a five-star, is listed as the No. 7 overall recruit and the top-ranked center.

On3 actually dropped Fland six spots compared to the most recent update in November. Quaintance also fell in the rankings but only by one spot. Regardless, the high school seniors are still recognized as the best at their respective positions. Pretty good.

Fland and Quaintance are just two pieces of a talented five-man recruiting class that Calipari will bring in for the 2024-25 season. Four-star small Billy Richmond, who has yet to publicly sign his National Letter of Intent, jumped up 17 spots, going from No. 37 overall in the last update to now being ranked No. 20. Four-star center Somto Cyril also received a bump, going from No. 45 to No. 40.

The fifth piece to Kentucky’s 2024 recruiting puzzle, Lyon County’s Travis Perry, is now ranked No. 122 overall with three-star status by On3, a nine-spot drop compared to where he was in the fall. On3 is the lowest on Perry compared to the other three major recruiting services. 247Sports and ESPN both list him at No. 71 overall while Rivals has him ranked No. 92.

With these five in the fold, Kentucky’s recruiting class ranks second in the country, trailing only the Duke Blue Devils. Duke’s five-man class includes Cooper Flagg (No. 1), Kon Knueppel (No. 15), Isaiah Evans (No. 25), Patrick Ngongba (No. 39), and Darren Harris (No. 46).

Calipari might not be finished recruiting in 2024 either. He has his eyes set on two other highly-ranked players from this class: 7-foot-2 center Khaman Maluach (No. 9) and 6-foot-6 small forward Karter Knox (No. 19). Maluach will take an official visit to UK next week while Knox took his last month.

An already talented batch of future Wildcats could get even better in the coming weeks/months.
