BTI's Rants and Ramblings: SEC Title Runs Through LSU

I understand that this fanbase, and most any college basketball fans, are pinpointing the upcoming two clashes between Kentucky and Tennessee as the games that will decide the SEC title this year.  And while those two games may or may not determine a 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament, after Tuesday's result at Rupp and the remaining schedules for the Top 3 teams, I think a strong argument can be made that LSU should be considered the favorite in the league.  First, look at the remaining 7 games for each team: TENNESSEE (Currently 11-0) Home (3): Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Miss State Away (4): Kentucky, LSU, Ole Miss, Auburn LSU (Currently 10-1) Home (4): Florida, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt Away (3): Georgia, Alabama, Florida KENTUCKY (Currently 9-2) Home (4): Tennessee, Auburn, Arkansas, Florida Away (3): Missouri, Tennessee, Ole Miss LSU has the following things going for it:

1. 4 home games remaining where Tennessee only has 3.
2. LSU and Tennessee meet in Baton Rouge for their only meeting.
3. LSU and Kentucky don't play again so they will hold the tiebreaker over us.
4. UT and Kentucky play TWICE, and most likely that will be a split, meaning another loss for each of us.
5. LSU plays the teams currently in 10th, 10th, 11th, 13th, and 14th in the league standings.  Plus Alabama (not exactly a world beater).
6. UK plays just 2 games against the bottom 5 teams in the league.  Tennessee plays just 1 team in the Bottom 5.

Do I think LSU is the best team in the SEC?  I really don't.  And if Tennessee can win the game in Baton Rouge then it throws most of this into chaos.  But the Tigers have proven it on the court, they proved it on Tuesday (with the help of a bad call), and they did it in the hardest part of their schedule.  Tennessee might be the best team in the league and country.  Kentucky might have the most "potential".  But who will be the champ at the end of the regular season?  I think all signs are pointing to LSU.
