Sometimes writing for this site takes twists and turns that you never would expect. Even for a guy like me, who generally doesn't travel to the events that Matt and the crew do, I have met and experienced things that I never would have gotten the opportunity to do without KSR. Yesterday, I wrote a post asking you what you wanted me to write about this summer. One common theme that came up was giving updates from players of the past. I actually did this post about a year ago, but I feel like this would be a good time to update the list, mostly because there were several players I had no info on.
One of those players was Skip Mcgaw. Who is Skip Mcgaw? Well, for the fans over 25, Mcgaw played 1 season at Kentucky in 1989-90 and came from Madisonville. Long story short, I did some research and thought I had maybe found him still residing in Madisonville, but could not confirm this. But, in a really cool moment, I received an email from Mcgaw letting me know that indeed, he was still in Madisonville, working as a partner at an insurance company. He has been married for 10 years now and has a 16-month old child named Marlee. I just found it really cool because guys like Mcgaw who played only 1 or 2 seasons at Kentucky sometimes are forgotten. And now we know Mcgaw is doing very well professionally and personally.
Anywho, over the next few days I will give you what I found out about many of the guys who played at UK since 1990. They are grouped by which year they LEFT Lexington. A couple I could not confirm what I found, so if anybody has extra info, just let me know. I will do 5 years per post for the rest of the week. And I may try and dive into the 1980's at a later date:
