BTI's Rants and Ramblings: You Asked and I Deliver (Part 2)

by:Bryan1302/22/11
After my plus-minus post about Jon Hood last week, I got a bunch of feedback from readers to apply the same numbers to the entire roster, to compare just if Hood truly has struggled as badly as most have thought.  With the help of some UK engineering students, I have the numbers up to this point in the season.  I showed you yesterday what they looked like in the non-conference season.  We saw that Brandon Knight had the best overall plus-minus in those 14 games, and Hood, Polson, Poole, and Vargas had the worst numbers.  But more suprisingly, we saw that in games against power conferences, JOSH HARRELLSON had the best plus-minus, just further emphasizing his importance to this team.  But that was many months ago, and the team has changed a lot since that time.  So, today you get the numbers from the 12 SEC games so far.  Take a look: OVERALL PLUS-MINUS (12 games) 1. Doron Lamb: +108 1. Darius Miller: +108 3. Brandon Knight: +97 4. Josh Harrellson: +90 5. Terrence Jones: +68 6. Deandre Liggins: +60 7. Eloy Vargas: +13 8. Jarrod Polson: +5 (6 games) 9. Stacey Poole: +4 (3 games) 10. Jon Hood: -12 (11 games) PLUS-MINUS IN LOSSES (5 games) 1. Darius Miller: +14 2. Doron Lamb: +1 3. Eloy Vargas: 0 3. Jarrod Polson: 0 (2 games) 5. Terrence Jones: -6 6. Brandon Knight: -20 7. Josh Harrellson: -22 8. Jon Hood: -25 9. Deandre Liggins: -29 Stacey Poole: Has not played in a game UK lost TOTAL TIME ON FLOOR (OUT OF POSSIBLE 480 MINUTES) 1. Brandon Knight: 436 minutes, 23 seconds 2. Terrence Jones: 388 minutes, 0 seconds 3. Darius Miller: 374 minutes, 17 seconds 4. Doron Lamb: 364 minutes, 13 seconds 5. Deandre Liggins: 358 minutes, 49 seconds 6. Josh Harrellson: 324 minutes, 51 seconds  7. Eloy Vargas: 79 minutes, 55 seconds 8. Jon Hood: 55 minutes, 1 second 9. Jarrod Polson: 12 minutes, 4 seconds 10. Stacey Poole: 9 minutes, 18 seconds Couple thoughts: 1) Brandon Knight is playing A TON of minutes 2) Lamb and Miller with VERY positive numbers there.  Maybe more important than we think? 3) Poor Jon Hood OK, these are the last 12 games.  Any surprises for you or any conclusions you come to for the final 4 games that you might not have thought existed beforehand?
